My friend Sherry Townsend

When I was years ago invited to teach at Palmetto tatters days, the first person I met while going from the sleeping room through the garden to the classroom, was Sherry Townsend, an eccentric lady with a lot of red long curled hair and very colored clothes. She saw me and said to me: you are Iris. From that moment on we became friends and she has become the test tatter for my books, a work she seems to enjoy a lot. So also for the new book she has tested all my butterflies and given me precious suggestions to make the book the most perfect possible. The butterfly book for autumn

I have eventually startet to work on the book I was long time thinking and procrastinating because of the complexity of the descriptions. Therefore I will publish - with the help of my husband and daughters - tutorials for learning the various techniques. These techniques are all included in the flowers and leaves, on which are the tutorials. These exercises will make the realisation of the butterflies much easier.

I'm finally working on my long awaited butterfly book!!!

These are all the pieces I cut away during the process of the butterfly. The first was not stiff enaugh, the second I added beads, but didn't like the effect, then I found the right design, but the wings where too big, then I changed, and they came out too small, and then, finally, in the evening I found the right stitch count, and finshed the last wing in bed.

The new butterfly

A new butterfly has joined my collection of threedimensional butterflies. I worked at this butterfly the whole day, from about 8 o'clock in the morning till midnight, with some interruptions only for looking at the computer and eating something cold from the fridge and some fruit. This was possible, because I was alone at home. Ah, I forgot, in the afternoon a friend came for two hours for a german lesson. I was there more times to abbandone the project, but then continued, changing my design and finally reaching the perfect stitch count. Here it is, the newborn butterfly.
