earrings for Azzurra

My friend Azzurra gave me a box with various beads and asked me to make her a pair of "important" earrings. Fortunately I hade some precious time in South Italy, where my husband made everything for me and I could tat the whole time I liked to. So I had wonderful inspirations and after a lot of trying and retrying I realized this pair of earrings for my friend:
The image is not very clear, because I scanned them, but I think you can see enough to appreciate them.

Lovely! I really like the way the tatting swirls around the center bead instead of being just flat.

What a clever & intricate design! That oval flat bead looks unusual in shape too. Is it really flat or have I just imagined that?

Thank you so much for all your nice comments. I will give you this a bit simplified as free pattern, which I will show you step by step. So it will be also easier to find the fitting beads.
Yes, Gina, the oval bead is flat, which permitted me to put it under the design.
