My friend Sherry Townsend

When I was years ago invited to teach at Palmetto tatters days, the first person I met while going from the sleeping room through the garden to the classroom, was Sherry Townsend, an eccentric lady with a lot of red long curled hair and very colored clothes. She saw me and said to me: you are Iris. From that moment on we became friends and she has become the test tatter for my books, a work she seems to enjoy a lot. So also for the new book she has tested all my butterflies and given me precious suggestions to make the book the most perfect possible. Thank you, Sherry, I hope we will have an occasion to meet again. Here is the picture of her Christmas decoration: The buttefly book can be bought from Lacis

Colour combinations

I have hold on my new creations for a moment and I'm making some items for an exhibition in South Italy, where I hope to sell a bit, to get back some of the money, which I have to spend for the exhibitions.
The crosses are made with a wire inside to hold them in the right shape, though I did not reach Elizabeth's perfection. I would so much know her secret. I will teach the technique to insert the wire, when I will be in Berkeley in February.
The Spring earrings are fast to make and stiff enaugh. I'm trying out different color combinations.
The Easy earrings are also very fast to make. The rose ones are in silk thread I got as gift from the japanese ladies, when I taught tatting in Japan. You can find the earrings in my book "Just for Fun". If you have tried out the Spring earrings, you will be able to know how I made the crosses.

tatting patterns with errors

Dear tatting friends,
Translating my book into italian I realized that it enters the category of patterns with errors. Fortunately the detailed diagrams help to understand also without the text. There is one pattern, where a number is missing in the text and on the diagram. Please contact me, if you have any problems with working the patterns. Here I show you some pictures of my test tatters. These have been made by Brigitte Henneberger and Jutta Grun from Germany:

And here some pictures from my dear test tatter Sherry Townsend from New York:
